*3 marks · Short answer*

In which of the above six objects do you think particles are strongly held together?

**Solution**

1. All the six objects shown in Fig. 7.3 (iron nail, rock salt, stone, wooden block, key, and piece of aluminium) are solids.
2. In solids, the particles are tightly packed and held together by very strong interparticle forces of attraction.
3. Therefore, the particles are strongly held together in all of these six solid objects.

**Answer:** Particles are strongly held together in all the six solid objects (iron nail, rock salt, stone, wooden block, key, and piece of aluminium) because they are solids with strong interparticle attractions.
