- Observe the stars in the provided figure (Fig. 12.2).
- Imagine connecting some of the stars with imaginary lines to form a recognizable shape.
- Draw these lines on the figure to complete your imagined pattern.
- Think of an animal, object, or person that your star pattern resembles. For example, you might see a 'kite' or a 'spoon'.
- Write the name of what your pattern looks like next to your drawing.
- Repeat this process to find other patterns in different parts of the night sky shown in the figure.
- Create a short, fun story about one or more of the patterns you have drawn. For instance, if you drew a 'kite', your story could be about a magical kite flying among the stars.
