Your child's level and 3 topics to fix first.

All the topics in this chapter, one rule at a time.

- Past forms and V3 . Many past forms are irregular: break, broke, broken. Use the past form (V2) on its own. After has, have or had, use V3. After do, does, did, can or must, use the base verb.
- Linking the past to now . Use has or have plus V3 when the past matters now, with since, for, just, already or ever. Since names a start, for a length of time. A finished time takes the simple past instead.
- Two past actions . An action going on at a past moment takes was or were plus -ing. Of two past actions, the earlier one takes had plus V3.
- Time clauses and the future . After when, as soon as or until, a future event takes the present simple, not will. Will be plus -ing is an action going on in the future. Will have plus V3 is finished by a future time.
- Read the whole passage first . The other sentences give clues. Check when the story happens, who is meant, and whether the thing was mentioned before. Then pick the word that fits all the clues.
- Gopal feeds the cows every day.
- Gopal is feeding the cows now.
- Gopal fed the cows yesterday.
- Gopal will feed the cows tomorrow.
- Ria lost her ticket. She found it later. a past story, so found
- Every morning Gita drinks tea. a daily habit, so drinks
- Nikhil has visited Agra last year. → Nikhil visited Agra last year. Linking the past to now
